Chris Hamill, B.ASc, P.Eng

Chris is a Senior Technical Specialist with the Health Informatics Research (HIR) group. He has over 15 years of software development experience in a wide array of languages and environments. With HIR, Chris develops clinical documentation applications to assist health care professionals in the treatment of their patients. This also provides data which researchers can use perform studies and further scientific knowledge.

Prior to joining UHN Chris worked in the Industrial Automation industry, designing and developing solutions to increase manufacturing efficiency via process improvement and data gathering and analysis.

Katherine Sue

Katherine Sue

Katherine is a Support Analyst for the Health Informatics Research (HIR) team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PMCC). Prior to this, Katherine spent 5 years working as a Research Assistant with the Gynecologic Oncology department at the PMCC where she managed the eCancerCare Ovarian database and provided user support.

Since June 2008, Katherine has been involved in the development, implementation and support of several synoptic operative reports at the University Health Network as part of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer’s synoptic surgery reporting initiative.

Yuliya Gavrylyuk

Yuliya Gavrylyuk, IMG, MHA

Yuliya is a Sr. Analyst of the Health Informatics Research (HIR) team, Princess Margaret Cancer Center. In the past 4 years Yuliya has worked closely with the UHN clinicians and researchers providing high quality technical and users support solutions on eCancerCare system, a disease-specific point-of-care tool that manages clinical data for medical and research purposes.

As a member of the Health Informatics Research team, Yuliya has been part of the coordination, development, implementation and support of many advanced and sustainable IT systems, including eCancerCare Suite, Distress Assessment and Report Tool (DART), Cancer Survivorship Care Plan (SCP), and TNM Validation e-survey for Ophthalmic Tumors.

Yuliya is an international medical graduate (IMG) and has a Master of Health Administration from Cornell University, USA.

Justin Liu

Justin Liu, BASc

Justin Liu is a Technical Architect for the Health Informatics Research (HIR) department at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He has been at UHN since 2004 designing, implementing and supporting technologies that meet the highly specific needs of collecting clinical data in a medical setting. He has worked throughout the various stages of the design and delivery process and has implemented many tools and processes to guide the collaboration with clinical and technical staff. He is involved heavily in the design of a standardized clinical data model that facilitates the diverse data requirements of differing specialties and diseases. He is known for his work with SNOMED CT, an international clinical terminology standard and has spoken at various national and international conferences on the subject.

Justin has a BASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is seriously addicted to ice hockey.

Srimathi Jayasimman

Srimathi Jayasimman graduated from SRM Institute of Science and Technology with a Masters of Technology specialized in Computer Science and Engineering in the year of 2014. I have published ‘Peer to Peer Resource Detection’ Journal in International Journal of Application or Innovation in Engineering & Management (IJAIEM). I am an ISTQB Certified Software Test Engineer. I have QA Automation experience in Java using Selenium WebDriver and TestNG Framework for both Web and Mobile applications. Always been innovative and creating ideas for STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle) phases.

Currently working as a Technical Analyst in Techna on Research Data Storage (RDS) project. Responsible for creating a modern technology supporting QA Automation framework using Cypress technology.

Pietro Andreoli

Pietro Andreoli

Pietro graduated from Ryerson University in 2018 with a BSc in Computer Science. He started his career as a programming teacher but quickly moved into the renewable energy industry. There he worked on solar monitoring and data analysis tools.

Pietro began his career at UHN in 2022 when he joined the team at Techna Institute.

Kevin Wang

Kevin Wang, Ph.D

Kevin Wang is a Scientific Associate and Technical Lead on software application development at Techna and UHN. He obtained his BSc and a MESc degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked in industry developing high performance image registration and image guided surgery applications for several leading hospitals and research institutes. Later he obtained his PhD in medical biophysics from the University of Western Ontario. He started to work with Dr. David Jaffray at Radiation Medicine Program at UHN in 2010 and worked on several key projects such as SlicerRT and AQUA. AQUA was later commericalized and acquired by Elekta. He joined Techna in 2015 and his primary focus will be on software platform for bioinformatics.

Mickey Ng

Mickey Ng, B.Sc

Mickey Ng graduated from University of Toronto with a B. Sc. Specialist in Computer Science and Economics. He has spent many years developing software for mobile devices and framework for cross platform mobile development. Mickey has developed and contributed to awards winning applications for J2ME, Blackberries, iPhone and Android platforms.

At Epson Canada, Mickey was a Java specialist for the Point of Sale printer JavaPOS ADK. He became affiliated with Techna in September 2013 and will contribute to the Cancer Informatics team.

Anton Sukhovatkin

Anton Sukhovatkin

Anton is a full stack developer on the Data Science project, tackling every aspect of the project from front end to back end to testing to deployment.

Anton joined Techna in 2015 after six years working for various companies across a variety of applications.

When not at work coding, Anton spends his free time… coding, with significant contributions to open source projects such as Ubuntu.

Benjamin Grant

Benjamin Grant

Benjamin Grant received his MSc in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto where he studied protein structure and function in cancer. Before joining CDI, Ben managed a large clinical research program at Princess Margaret which focused on improving patient outcomes through technological innovations, including harnessing real-world big data, and machine learning/AI.

Ben joined CDI in January 2023 as Manager of the Data Science team. At CDI, Ben leads a team of developers, researchers, and analysts to create innovative IT solutions for real-world problems at Princess Margaret. His current projects include the clinical trial matching tool PMATCH and enabling/streamlining machine learning pipelines for clinical deployment.
